High profile speakers to share knowledge, expertise at leading trade show

CBM-TEC 2016 at the Kitwe Showgrounds,

Thousands of business decision makers and professionals will be making their way to the heart of the Zambian mining region to take part in CAMINEX/CBM-TEC 2017, a powerful trade exhibition that is well positioned to provide a platform to stimulate business in the agricultural, mining and industrial sectors in the Copperbelt area.

Taking place from 6th to 8th June at the Kitwe Showgrounds, visitors will benefit from the extensive pool of knowledge available to them from the large number of technical experts on the exhibition stands and through the free-to-attend seminars.

The Honourable Christopher Yaluma (MP), Ministry of Mines and Mineral Development of the Republic of Zambia will be the first seminar speaker on Tuesday 6th of June. His Ministerial Address will consider the outlook for Zambia’s mineral market from 2017 to 2020, mineral development as a vehicle of economic diversification, key challenges facing the future development of Zambia’s mineral industry, assessing the impact of infrastructure constraints on mining development, the increasing importance of building relationships between the mining sector and the private sector, and an update on the mineral road map and what new strategies are in the pipeline.

Nathan Chishimba, President, Zambia Chamber of Mines will also speak on the Tuesday and he will unpack the topic of policy options for local content and local procurement.

Other speakers include Kirby Vermaak, General Manager: Central Africa at Metso, talking about innovation and technological advances in mining. Michael Mundashi SC, Partner at Mulenga Mundashi Kasonde will provide updates on the mining regulatory environment and driving a sustainable mining sector.

Agriculture is the focus of the Wednesday morning free-to-attend seminars on 7th of June. The Honourable Dora Siliya (MP), Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Zambia will present an address outlining how agriculture and manufacturing are key enablers to developing a sustainable agro-industry.

Other speakers taking the platform on Wednesday will include Leon Kotze, Head of Agribusiness at Standard Bank who will look at raising financing for agriculture and farm management. He is followed by Brian Malambo, Technical Manager: Southern Africa at BASF Zambia, who will talk about the role of technology in agriculture and how it is driving modern farming. Ballard Zulu, Outreach Director at the Indaba Agricultural Policy Research Institute (IAPRI) will unpack the topic of the use of technology for increasing production and productivity.

Moving to energy on the Wednesday afternoon, Langiwe Lunga, Executive Director at The Energy Regulation Board (ERB) and Owen Silavwe, Chief Executive Officer at Copperbelt Energy Corporation Plc (CEC), will focus on Zambia’s growing demand for power and options available. Emanuel Chibesakunda, President of the Zambia Renewable Energy Agency will look at assessing strategic renewable energy choices and the priorities for mines.

On the final day, Thursday 8th of June, transport and infrastructure will be discussed by speakers Eng. Robinson Misitala, Managing Director at Zambia Airport Corporation Ltd and Christopher Musonda, Chief Executive Officer at Zambia Railways Limited. Banking and finance will be put into the spotlight by Dr. Bwalya Ng’andu, Deputy Governor – Operations from The Bank of Zambia, and Kingsley Chanda, Commissioner General at the Zambia Revenue Authority.

In addition to this informative speaker series, visitors will also see a broad showcase of products, machinery, equipment and consumables as well as insight into the latest innovation, technologies, services and solutions. Daily live demonstrations will bring the showcase alive.

CAMINEX/CBM-TEC 2017 is jointly organised by the Copperbelt Mining, Agricultural and Commercial Show Society (CACSS) and Specialised Exhibitions Montgomery.
